Data Products

What is a data product?

A data product is a unit of data with a clear owner, defined quality expectations (SLA), and known consumers (business capabilities).

Structure

Each data product has:

• Name — what it's called
• Owner — Product Owner (2nd line)
• Steward — Information Steward (1st line)
• Domain — Business capability it belongs to
• SLA — Freshness, availability, quality thresholds
• Source systems — Where the data originates
• Consumers — Which capabilities depend on it

Pilot products

The pilot includes 5-10 data products. These will be registered in OpenMetadata with full metadata.

Product list will be added once selection is complete (March 2026).

Finding products in OpenMetadata

1. Go to data.writebase.app
2. Navigate to Data Products in the left sidebar
3. Each product shows owner, steward, SLA, and quality metrics
4. Click a product to see full details and lineage
